Electrode Placement

For a first forearm test, place two measurement electrodes along the target muscle direction and place the reference electrode on a nearby bony or low-muscle-activity area.

Use wet electrodes first. They are more forgiving and make it easier to confirm that the signal chain works before testing dry electrodes.

  • Keep electrode contact stable during the test.
  • Avoid placing electrodes across multiple unrelated muscles if you want a clean first signal.
  • Move the setup away from chargers, monitors, and strong electrical noise.
  • Use the Noise and Flatline guide if the waveform does not react to contraction.
