What Is EMG?
EMG, or electromyography, measures electrical activity related to muscle activation. Surface EMG, often written as sEMG, uses electrodes on the skin to capture signals from nearby muscles.
For developers, sEMG is useful for gesture input, HCI prototypes, robotics experiments, rehabilitation research prototypes, and bio-signal education.
With onboard dry electrodes and a strap, the module can be fixed directly on the forearm for a simpler setup with fewer dangling wires and less motion-related interference.
What Makes EMG Difficult?
Section titled “What Makes EMG Difficult?”The useful signal is small and easily affected by electrode contact, power noise, body movement, ADC range, and filtering choices.
