Dry vs Wet Electrodes
Wet Electrodes
Section titled “Wet Electrodes”Wet electrodes usually give more stable skin contact because gel lowers contact impedance. They are the best choice for a first experiment because they reduce variables while you debug the rest of the signal chain.
Dry Electrodes
Section titled “Dry Electrodes”Dry electrodes are reusable and easier to integrate into straps or devices, but they are more sensitive to pressure, skin condition, movement, and front-end input design.
Recommendation
Section titled “Recommendation”Start with wet electrodes to confirm that your hardware and software work. Then test dry electrodes and compare noise, baseline drift, and contraction response.
AAW sEMG Flex is designed to make this comparison easier.
